What Forbes said about us!

After traveling to exotic global destinations such as Turkey, Peru, Nepal, Japan and India as a jewelry buyer, Lauren Krasowski took a leap of faith and launched her own jewelry line, Dylan Rose. It was the beguiling city of Jaipur, India that captured her heart and inspired her to launch a collection that would showcase the work of talented artisans, while also giving back to girls in the community.

Here is a snapshot of the interview written by Michelle Martin, a contributor for ForbesWomen who covers topics such as travel, social impact and entrepreneurship. I was thrilled she wanted to talk to me about my journey to becoming a small business owner with a social impact! I could not be more proud to be among the talented women featured in Forbes.

Michelle Martin: What was it like traveling around the world as a jewelry buyer?

Lauren Krasowski: It was a unique experience because most jewelry buyers shop the domestic market but I was given the opportunity (with World Market) to shop on a global scale. I found this a hundred times more inspiring and eye-opening. I grew up in a family obsessed with travel, so I believe its in my blood. I have always been drawn to the bohemian artisan feel that comes out of countries like Turkey, India, and Peru. By traveling to these countries, meeting the designers and working with the factory owners firsthand, it created a much more personal connection to the product.

Martin: Why was India different? What was it that made you take the leap and launch your own line?

Krasowski: I traveled to India most often over the years and have probably been there about 8 times, mainly visiting Mumbai, Jaipur and Delhi. It was very clear that Jaipur was special and had a unique aesthetic compared to the rest of India. I love the quality of their semi-precious stones and the way they plate their jewelry in this bright gold. They use a lot of brass so it has a delicate feel. Jewelry from that area always stood out to me. They were always my favorite pieces, so it was a no-brainer.
